HIVEX Treatment targets proteins in the HIV virus.It is intended to disable the virus so that the virus stops causing the death of other cells  ("apoptosis"), allowing white blood cells (lymphocytes) to increase. It is safety approved.  European regulatory authorities accepted that the trials showed a significant lower level of apoptosis of CD4 lymphocytes and refused registration in Europe saying

"... Although the clinical data shows an effect on HIV patients, it is a concern that the mechanism of the treatment is not explained.
A significant lower level of apoptosis of CD4 lymphocytes has been measured. It is not known whether this is of significance to the progress of the disease..."

We think that research since 2000 shows a strong link between the rate of apoptosis and HIV progression, and that  patients should be able to choose to use this treatment.

HIVEX Treatment has been recommended for full commercial approval in South Africa and HIVEX Ltd is waiting for that approval to roll out the treatment in South Africa, and then elsewhere.. .
